My Story

My first birth was a disappointing unplanned cesarean birth, and my second was a victorious VBAC (Vaginal Birth After Cesarean) with a wonderful doula.  My third was an amazing homebirth - my original birth plan.  These personal experiences, and the many I have heard retold by the woman I am surrounded by have inspired me to become a doula.

Preventing cesareans is an important goal that I have.  You may be thinking "a cesarean will never happen to me," however, the current cesarean birth rate in California is over 30%, meaning if you walk into a hospital unprepared, you have a 1 in 3 chance of having surgery.  Please, don't go without a doula!  Even if you've read books and taken childbirth preparation classes, a doula is still a really important way to do all you can to make a cesarean surgery the last possible resort.  After all, sometimes they really are necessary, and in those cases, aren't we so grateful for the advanced technology available to us today?  That said, women with doulas are 50% less likely to have a cesarean birth.  I would love to be a part of making your birth experience the best possible.  Please click the contact link above to get in touch with me.
